Q: What is Forward Tutoring?

Forward Tutoring is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides quality, online tutoring to students anywhere-- absolutely free. We allow students to receive free tutoring by volunteering in their community. Our platform creates an ecosystem for students, tutors, and nonprofits to interact: tutors tutor students who volunteer at events posted by nonprofits. In turn, we reward tutors for their efforts with the help of Corporate Partners and Sponsors.

Q: Who can use Forward Tutoring?

Forward Tutoring currently offers three types of accounts:

Student: Any student-- whether in middle school, high school, or college-- can use the Forward Tutoring website. If you have a tutoring need, we have your solution. Students also have access to our Volunteer Opportunity Database, which shows local events by day and by relevance to the student. Students indicate the service areas they are most passionate about and we feed them events that align to their wants.

Tutor: Tutors provide the online tutoring to students; in turn, tutors can review or export their service hour history (useful for college applications, fulfilling school requirements, and to see the impact of your help) and become eligible for scholarships, internships, and other Forward Tutoring-exclusive awards and prizes. Tutors simply create a regular Student account and then follow instructions to Become A Tutor.

Nonprofit: Organizations can use Forward Tutoring to post volunteer opportunities to a diverse and engaged volunteer pool. Nonprofits are then able to see which students sign up for events to ensure their events are successful!

Q: Who’s tutoring me?

Tutors are high-school or college students, verified by their academic emails, who provide quality, one-on-one tutoring. Tutors must pass a Forward Tutoring original examination to demonstrate academic mastery and must pass a mock session to demonstrate exceptional communication skills; by verifying academic and communication levels we are able to provide quality tutoring to students.

Tutors are held to the highest standards in terms of tutoring etiquette. If you, for whatever reason, have a tutoring that does not exceed your expectations, please email with details and we will respond accordingly. We thank you for your input.
